Hello,
let’s start by introducing ourselves our names
are Ross & Diane
North and our love of Llamas started many years
ago when we were enchanted by a Llama at the
Ekka. This lay dormant until 2000 when we
purchased our first 3
gelded males to take to a property in Cooroy we
then knew Llamas were definitely for us. We
later purchased 5 breeding females – one of
which was pregnant – and shortly after we had
our first Cria (baby llama).
Our Llamas lived at
Mitchelton in Brisbane but with six pregnant
girls our herd was growing and we knew they
needed more room so the search began to find
somewhere not too far from home where we could
initially move our boys.
We
purchased the property at Mt Mee Road in 2006,
the idea of building cottages was an
afterthought but knowing how much we loved
escaping the city to the scenic views and fresh
air of Dayboro we thought others would surely
love it as well. So in February this year we
started to build. The Cottages were built as a
“Pole Home” to take advantage of the lay of the
land which has resulted in high balconies with
scenic views into Dayboro Valley. Our Cottages
are self contained including laundry with King
size beds to allow our guests somewhere spacious
to relax.
Knowing the interest that
Llamas always seem to create we decided to
incorporate the two and build the Llama
enclosures near enough to the Cottages that
guests might enjoy watching them graze or feed
them, maybe even take them for a walk. Our stud
name is “Landsborough Llamas” which sometimes
causes
confusion due to Landsborough being a town on
the Sunshine Coast but to us it's a family
name as Ross is a direct
descendant of William
Landsborough the explorer
after which the town was named.
So Dayboro Cottages & Llama
Walks is now the home of “Landsborough
Llamas” and is under the
constant supervision of our management team
Michael and Susan. So anytime you
want the experience of
talking to a Llama feel free to give us a call –
we're always happy to indulge.
